[转帖]Japan fibre net users pass 5.3 million
<p>Fibre optic internet connections are now gaining at a greater rate than ADSL in Japan, according to recent research.</p><p>More than 5.35 million Japanese homes and businesses were using fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) as their main internet connection in March, Tokyo-based Multi Media Research Institute (MMRI) reported.</p><p>Japan's fibre subscribers will exceed 19 million by 2008, the firm predicted. "The number of FTTH subscribers doubled compared to the previous year," the research firm said.</p><p>"In contrast, ADSL subscriptions, which had been the major factor of market expansion, declined considerably."</p><p>ADSL showed only a slight increase, from total subscriptions of 13.7 million in fiscal 2004 to 14.45 million in 2005.</p><p>Consultants Dittberner Associates announced recently that Japan added 2.5 million FTTH subscribers in 2005, making up 80 per cent of the entire FTTH market.</p><p>FTTH penetration in Japan is now growing at a rate of three million subscribers per year. The government wants to continue at this pace, eventually reaching 30 million homes.</p><p>Currently, half of Japanese households have some form of fibre internet connection available.</p><p>"Video, IPTV and other high bandwidth applications are driving demand for Passive Optical Network and Ethernet FTTH equipment all over the world," said Jeff Heynen, an analyst with US-based communications research specialist Infonetics Research. </p><p>"Passive Optical Network is very strong in the Asia Pacific region, particularly Ethernet Passive Optical Network, which is huge in Japan and will roll out in China soon as well."</p> <p>日本光纤网络用户超过530万</p><p>最近的研究表明，在日本，光纤光学因特网连接正在以远超过ADSL的比例迅速增加。</p><p>东京基于多媒体研究协会报道说，3月份日本超过535万日本家庭和商业用户正在使用光纤到户（FTTH）作为他们主要的因特网连接。</p><p>公司预言，到2008年，日本的光纤用户将超过1900万。研究公司说，光纤到户订户的数目将会比过去那些年的总和的两倍。</p><p>“相比较而言，曾经是市场主要增长因素的ADSL签约用户的增长呈现出大幅度的下降。”</p><p>据国家财政统计，ADSL总签约用户数量从2004年的1370万到2005年的1445万只有少量的增长。</p><p>Dittberner 咨询协会最近发布通告，2005年日本增长的250万光纤到户用户，占据整个光纤到户市场的80％的市场份额。</p><p>在日本，光纤到户的突破是以每年300万的比例增长。政府希望这样增长继续下去，最终达到3000万的家庭用户。</p><p>现在，有一半的日本家庭认为光纤网络连接是有效的。</p><p>研究美国通信研究专家的分析家杰夫 海伦说，因为全世界的无源光学网和以太网的光纤到户设备都需要应用视频、IPTV和其他的高带宽。</p><p>在亚太地区，被动光学网是十分强大的。特别是以太网无源光学网络，在日本十分巨大，并将会很快的席卷中国。</p>
